Greek Chocolate Salami: A Simple, Decadent Dessert for Chocolate Lovers!
Christianna | Siftnwhisk
This decadent, no-bake chocolate salami is a must try recipe for every chocolate lover! It features a buttery base, cognac infused sweet crackers and walnuts.
In a large bowl mix together the melted butter, vanilla extract, cocoa powder, powdered sugar and salt until combined.
In a different bowl roughly break the crackers with your hands.
Pour the cognac, making sure all crackers are covered evenly.
Fold in the crackers into the chocolate mixture.
Add the walnuts in the mixture and stir until incorporated.
Spread the mixture on a piece of parchment paper and shape into a log. Twist the edges to secure the filling.
Wrap the log tightly with plastic wrap to ensure it has a uniform, cylindrical shape.
Freeze for 3 hours.
Cut into slices and serve.
Notes
Sift both cocoa powder and powdered sugar as they tend to be lumpy. This will ensure an even batter.
Instead of parchment paper and plastic wrap you can also use aluminum foil to wrap the chocolate salami. It works just fine but you will not get a cylindrical shape as even.
You can either freeze or refrigerate chocolate salami.
Chocolate salami can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or in the freezer for up to 2 months. When ready to serve, remove chocolate salami from freezer and let it sit for 20 minutes before cutting into slices.
If you plan to serve chocolate salami to children, omit the cognac.
You can top chocolate salami with dusted cocoa powder or powdered sugar.
